How Can I Lose Weight Quickly?

How can I lose weight quickly?

However, eating less and exercising more often fail to lose weight permanently.

How does that work and what does work?

Insulin: that's the secret

Suppose you belong to that half of the indian adults who are overweight and you decide to do something about it. In any case, you don't have to search long for the solution if you didn't know it yet.

Everyone - including your doctor or dietitian - tells you that you have become overweight because you are too lazy and have too little self-discipline to stop eating in time. So the remedy is simple: eat less and exercise more.

Eat less and exercise more; does it help?

The effect on your body weight of more exercise and eating less has been extensively described in eighty different studies, the results of which were combined in a so-called meta-study.

Suppose you weigh 100 kilos and then you are going to take it seriously, jogging four times a week for half an hour for two years. After those two years you step on the scales again and you now weigh… 99 kilos.

Indeed, by two years of intensive exercise you will lose an average of only one percent of your body weight!

A colleague of yours who also weighed 100 kilos took a different approach and followed a calorie-restricted diet for no less than four years and defied the associated hunger. After those four years, her weight is 97 kilos, which is not immediately a success. A weight loss of three percent.

Well, you should have combined more exercise with limiting calories. Indeed, after combining four years of jogging with starvation, a person with a starting weight of 100 kilos weighs "only" 96 kilos… a decrease of four percent in their body weight.

These results can hardly be called successful

Apart from the fact that research also shows that less than 10 percent of those who cut calories are able to keep it up for even a year. It becomes even more poignant when we realize that it has also been shown that after stopping calorie-restricting food, our weight not only comes back very quickly due to the well-known yo-yo effect, but there is also a tendency for extra obesity to be added.

So it will be clear that there is something completely wrong with our widespread understanding of the causes and remedies of overweight and obesity.

Back to the real causes

Fortunately, history and recent science give us the tools to find the real causes of obesity. The phenomenon of obesity did not just appear out of the blue. In 1977, a government advice was issued in the United States that stated that we should eat less fats and more carbohydrates. Grist to the mill of the food industry that was able to tap a gold mine in the form of industrially processed food with the dirt cheap and long-lasting grains as a raw material. The consequences of this were not long in coming in the US.

An explosion of weight gain occurred almost immediately, followed after several years by a ditto increase in diabetes cases.

Now, of course, such a sequence of events could just be coincidental, but this argument lapses because in the following decades exactly the same has happened in every country that has followed the American low-fat dietary advice, also in the Netherlands.

Scientists meanwhile have unraveled how this could have happened. It turns out that industrially processed low-fat food leads to abnormally high blood sugar levels and thus to high levels of the hormone insulin. Insulin is by far the most important hormone for regulating our body weight and, among other things, sends out the signal that more fat must be stored.

The best remedy is to eliminate the cause

"The therapy is actually surprisingly simple and consists of keeping the blood sugar levels as low as possible and thus also insulin."

When the insulin levels remain low, our body automatically starts to burn fat and voilà: we automatically lose weight to our normal weight.

And the method to keep insulin low is precisely not to eat less calories and less fat! The remedy that does help is to eat fresh and especially full fat with as little carbohydrate-rich products as possible such as bread, rice, pasta and potatoes and to avoid soft drinks completely. Continue to eat until you are satisfied, but no more than three times a day, which prevents your insulin levels from being high throughout the day with snacks.

This "new" diet works in almost 100% of the cases

In the meantime, many thousands of patients have been treated with this method and… with almost 100 percent success. This is a great progress compared to the old advice to exercise more and to eat less, which in the long term fails in almost all cases.

Despite the fact that you will not lose weight further, I still recommend that you also exercise more. In addition to the fact that exercise is incredibly good for heart and blood vessels, you will also look better and more muscular in combination with the loss of overweight. And in addition to being healthier, the latter is what we all secretly want.
